About the Site
This is NOT Greatest Site (NGS for short) was founded in January of 2006 by translator Cayce and tech-guru Kame (who has since left the project to go and develop the front ends of apps in the California tech industry, and hasn't been called a "webmaster" since the 90's).
The Not Greatest Site project began as a lyrics & translations website, cleverly disguised under many thick layers of sarcasm and cheap jokes. In those prehistoric times, the internet was sorely lacking in easily accessible translations to Buck-Tick songs, so NGS began with a primary focus on Buck-Tick...but how much we have grown since then! Over the course of more than six years, we have traversed three continents and branched out to include live reports, culture features, and most recently, a companion blog. Now, after a regrettable and inexcusably long hiatus, we are pleased to welcome you to the all-new This is NOT Greatest Site Version 3.0!
Version 3.0 features revised and updated versions of all our old content—we have rewritten all the kanji lyrics from the original album liner notes, standardized the romaji, rewritten translations for enhanced singability, sexiness, and all-around cool-factor, added new graphics and translator’s notes and cross-linked live reports. Maybe you thought we were dead, but we’re back and we’re bad, and we aim to be the most accurate translation site on the internet. If you have suggestions or ideas for things you think we should add, please feel free to contact us whenever.
However, while we say “contact us,” since Kame is now busy making sure the front ends of web apps are thoroughly developed, she has officially left the team and will continue from this point on in the role of occasional correspondent only. That makes NGS now the exclusive personal project of Cayce, and it means that when we use the pronoun “we” in bios like this, what “we” really mean to say is I, Cayce, am now King of Not Greatest Site (Not Greatest King?), and am using the royal “we” to reflect my newly royalized status. I am not nearly so good at web coding as Kame was, but I promise that what I lack in coding prowess, I will make up for in speed of updates. Greatest or not the greatest, in the Game of Sites, you update or you die.
My lack of coding skill means I'm definitely still uncool enough to be called a "webmaster," but being my own webmaster means I can post new content as soon as I finish creating it. Please email me if you notice any typos or other errors, and I will fix them immediately. Also, please email Kame and thank her for all her years of work. If it weren’t for her, Not Greatest Site would never have existed at all.
