Norman Lindsay Gallery is the former home of renowned artist Norman Lindsay, and was the setting of the movie 'Sirens', featuring Elle McPherson. I am grateful to the Gallery for permission to use the image of Norman Lindsay's wonderful painting 'The Lute Player' - showing that even in early 20th century Australia, the mythic value of the lute was still present (even as a footnote to a glorious female nude!), despite that instrument having become virtually extinct before the country was discovered.
