Our mission

Lyons Prepared is a volunteer citizen partnership with the Lyons Fire Protection District in the Lyons, Colorado area.

Our mission is to work with residents and visitors within the Lyons Fire Protection District to:

  • Support neighborhood emergency preparedness.
  • Strengthen our ability to communicate well during an emergency.
  • Enhance relationships between our fire district and surrounding communities and Boulder and Larimer County emergency planners.

Want to volunteer to help out in your neighborhood?

We're still looking for volunteers in some of our neighborhoods, including Town West of the River (Confluence and Ewald), Lonestar, X Bar 7 / Blue Mountain Trail, and Eagle Canyon. If you'd like to participate in the communication tree for your neighborhood or as a neighborhood point of contact, please contact us at info@LyonsPrepared.com.

2018 Action items

  • Prioritize recruiting in the following areas: Eagle Canyon, Confluence, X Bar 7, Lone Star
  • Expand neighborhood outreach efforts and continue to network about LP
  • Emergency kits/backpacks project
  • Continue to identify funding sources
  • Continue to apply for recognition awards
  • More proactive outreach regarding preparedness, for example, lightning strikes.
  • Sponsor a CPR/first aid training
  • Plan 2018 scenario

Next meetings and radio check-ins

Everyone is welcome at our meetings!

Steering Committee meetings: 3rd Tue of Feb, May, and Aug, and 2nd Tue of Nov.
Location: Fire Station 1, 6:30p - 8p.
Radio check-ins on 3rd Tue of months when there is no Steering Committee meeting, except not Dec.

  • Radio check-in: Tue, Jun 19, 6:30p 
  • Radio check-in: Tue, Jul 17, 6:30p
  • Lyons Prepared will have a table at National Night Out on Aug 7.
