PA SENATE BILL 1199 IS NOW KNOWN AS

PA SENATE BILL 210!!!

NEW YEAR! NEW NUMBER! NEW OPPORTUITY TO GET IT PASSED!!!!

PLEASE USE THE NEW NUMBER IN ALL CORRESPONDENCE!

UPDATES WILL FOLLOW AS NEEDED!

URGENT CALL TO ACTION!

A letter from Julia Wagner, leader of Lyme Action PA:

Dear Supporters Of PA SB 1199 (now known as PA SB 210):

I had a quick update call with Senator Greenleaf's office on Dec 15.  Here are the plans for re-introducing the bill (Senate Bill 1199, also called SB1199) and the actions that we will need to take  IMMEDIATELY:

For LINKS to all state REPRESENTATIVES and SENATORS by county CLICK HERE.

1.   COSPONSORS FOR RE-INTRODUCED BILL:  The first step to reintroducing the bill is for the Senator to get co-sponsors for the bill.  They do this by writing a memo to all Senators asking for their support as a co-sponsor.  THIS MEMO WENT OUT ON FRIDAY, 12/17 AND ASKED FOR THEM TO RESPOND BY 1/8/11.

2.   OUR JOB:  is to contact our respective Senators with regard to this bill, providing them with information, and background and your specific request to co-sponsor this bill.

3.   MATERIALS:  CLICK HERE for a template letter you can send to your senator.  This is a word document designed for you to edit; to add your own relevant details and information.

See link below for selected supportive documents which you can send, as you see fit, with your letter.  Most importantly, you need to have at least a few sample "cases", people's stories that illustrate the need for the bill, picking the best stories.  Remember that children and youth stories are most impactful -- they want to know that their constituents ARE affected and interested and need this bill.  DO personalize the template letter... it should not look like a mass campaign - these are perceived to have less impact. Put your support group or "coalition" on the list, and get as many signatures as you can.

4.   TIMING:  contact your Senator's office as soon as you can, perhaps email your letter and ask for a meeting.

Supportive Documents Attachments: These files are PDF files. You will need Adobe Acrobate Reader to view them.

Other Supporting Documents: Some have asked for brochures or pamphlets that we may have.  We don't have a LymeActionPA brochure, but are working on one, but there are plenty of informational, high credibility brochures that are focused more on educational information available - here are some links to those for all.  The LDA will ship you quantities of the brochures for FREE - check the 3rd link below for details.  Brochures Available:
