The Reverend Dr. Bobby Lee Taylor was born in Evergreen, Alabama to Earnest and Minnie Lee Taylor and is the oldest of thirteen (13) children. At the age of eleven (11), he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Owassa, Alabama. He was educated in the public school system of Evergreen, Alabama.

He accepted his calling to the Gospel ministry and was licensed to preach on August 14, 1983 and ordained on December 20, 1984. He has over 25 years of progressively responsible experience in church ministries and administrative leadership. He has preached in several states and accumulated many awards and achievements in his Christian journey.

Dr. Taylor is the former pastor of the Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church in Carson, Virginia, where he served for 9 years and led the church to achieve many goals in the Lord. All the ministries grew and the people advanced in knowledge and service to the Lord. Seven members were licensed to preach the gospel, 2 were ordained as ministers of education for adults and youths and 6 members were ordained as deacons.

Dr. Taylor’s main goal as a minister and pastor is to be faithful to God, His people and ministry, to mold disciples, teach evangelistic attributes, develop active members and led the church to be a loving and inspirational foundation in the community.

Dr. Taylor’s educational track is one of great magnitude and hard work. On May of 1995, he graduated from Piedmont International University in Raleigh, North Carolina, (formerly Atlantic Baptist Bible College) where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Theology. On May 8, 2004, he received his Master of Divinity Degree from Virginia Union University, Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology in Richmond, Virginia and on December 15, 2006, he received his Doctor of Ministry Degree from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Taylor's dissertation concentrated on “Mentoring Tools for Associate Ministers in a Local Church Setting.”

Dr. Taylor was called as pastor to Sandy Mount Baptist Church on November 21, 2011. On May 18, 2013, he was elected 2nd Vice-Moderator of the Lebanon Virginia Baptist Association and Allied Bodies which consist of 18 churches and 4 Sunday School Unions. 
On July 13, 2017, he was elected 1st Vice-Moderator for the Association. He is the founder and visionary of the Cathedral of Praise Ministry; an Outreach Ministry that provides workshops, seminars, mentoring tools for leaders and churches.

Dr. Taylor is married to the former Gail Yolanda Jones and they are residents of Chester, Virginia. He loves to preach and teach and he will preach and teach. One of his favorite scriptures is found in Proverbs 29:18, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
