Celebrate Valentines Day this coming February as the Lute Café presents the Ladyslipper Ensemble in a program titled Fin’ Amor (Refined Love). The program includes delicious ensemble music and art songs by Jean Baptiste Lully,  Étienne Moulinié, Robert de Visee, Marin Marais, and others. The Ladyslipper Ensemble includes: Paul Berget (lute and viol), Mary Burke (viola da gamba), Julie Elhard (viola da gamba and lirone), Sahar Hassan (mezzo soprano), and Phillip Rukavina (lute and theorbo). This is music beautifully refined in a performance truly intended for the season of Love (with a capital “L”)!

Ladyslipper Ensemble is a twin cities chamber music collective with two facets that bring the community something old and something new by presenting repertoire spanning from the 17th to the 21st century performed on both early instruments and modern. Dedicated to uncovering lost works and introducing audiences to rarely heard pieces, we invite our listeners to explore the unfamiliar, creating a deeper appreciation for the forgotten. By offering innovative, fresh and engaging programming, Ladyslipper brings soulful and beautiful themes to life. We strive to usher you beyond the realm of tradition and break barriers between listeners and performers.

The New Lute Café is sponsored by the St. Paul Conservatory of Music
