Moodle Moodle is a course management system (CMS) - a free, Open Source software package designed using sound pedagogical principles, to help educators create effective online learning communities. You can download and use it on any computer you have handy (including webhosts)

Read the Words This is one of the coolest websites ever! Totally free, but you need to sign up for an account. You copy and paste whatever text you want into the website, and it reads your text into an audio file. Try it--I just made one of this entry! It will even save files for you, so you can go back and re-use the same recordings. Too cool!

SEN Teacher

SEN Teacher provides cost-free teaching & learning resources for students with special needs and learning disabilities.

All the resources available or listed here are free for use in schools, colleges and at home.

  • The Printables Page has a selection of printable worksheets, handouts and teaching aids most of which can be customised to suit a range of learners.

Sharpshooter 0.4.1 Sharpshooter is a smalll applicationwhich aids the management of screenshots. When you take a screenshot on Mac OS X with Command-Shift-3 (or with another variation) Sharpshooter will present a window where you can review the picture and choose what to do with it. You can either rename it from its default name to something more descriptive, move the screenshot to the Trash, or cancel the operation keeping the screenshot as it is.

Rubistar Free tool (registration is required) to help you create rubrics for your students. You can access them from school or home, as can your students. There are lots of tools to help you get started, and you can even make them interactive.
