Special Interest Days 2019

These days are held in Borwick and Priest Hutton Memorial Hall and are led by experts in their fields.  Subjects recently studied include: C20th Jewelery, The Grand Tour, Be Your Own Art Detective; A Passion for Tea; Byzantine Mosaics; Artists and the Landscape; English Churches; Music Inspired by Paintings; Treasures of the Silk Road. These events have proved to be both popular and informative

Tea, coffee and a full lunch are provided as part of the days. Places for these events are usually limited, and therefore early booking is advised.

THE GEORGIAN COUNTRY HOUSE

LED BY ROGER MITCHELL

This Study Day gives an insight into the creation of the Georgian Country House, covering the different styles of architecture used for such magnificent buildings, Palladian and Neoclassical to name but a few.

We learn of the World of the Country House, as Power Houses, Polite Society and The House within its setting.  Plus the amazing legacy of these Great Houses.

After lunch, members will be 'transferred' overseas to be informed of the influence of The Georgian House as it was used to great effect in Ireland, America and Australia.
