History: Ancient Civilizations
This time in history marks the movement of humanity from the nomadic lifestyle of hunters and gathers to life in villages and even cities. There was a huge advancement of science and technology as well as the beginnings of written language and mathematics.
This was the dawn of a new age for humanity. No longer did humans have to follow the herds or search for their food. Temporary structures were replaced by permanent stone or clay brick buildings.
Humans now had some time for some leisure activities such as sports and arts, but many of these were tied in with religion and warfare.
With these great accomplishments also came difficulties. At this time cities began warring with one another, droughts became serious problems, and laws were required to keep peace within city walls.
Many myths and gods were created to explain things such as nature, life and death, sickness, and natural phenomenon as well as to help the people of the ancient world try to understand and deal with the world around them.
This was a bright and exciting time in human history!
