Toy Train in Lucknow Zoo
Presently this toy train has been pulled out of service because of plans of a revamp. It would be parked in front of the Lucknow Museum inside zoo. The four decades old toy train was gifted to Lucknow Zoo in 1969 by the Railway Board.  It is expected that a new Shatabdi like four bogey toy train may begin operations during mid 2014. )
About old Train:
A toy train with 3 coaches,   with starting station 'Chandrapuri' near the main gate of zoo, was running daily and anyone could  enjoy the train ride and have a look of whole Zoo.  It was first was started in 1969 by the then Zoo Administration. The train was inaugurated on the Children's Day Nov. 14, 1969 by the then Chief Minister, U. P. The length of the train track is about 1.5 km. and has many crossings and signals. Rides start from Chandrapuri station and this toy train had been  attracting huge visitors and  proved to be an asset for the zoo over the years. It was most liked by children.  It moved slowly and you could  see almost all the wildlife and places of zoo during its round. Tickets were very nominal which can be purchased at the ticket Counter located at the left side of Chandrapuri Station.

Vintage train
: Just for a look -  A British-era train  is an added attraction for visitors to the city zoo. The train was shifted to the zoo from Maharajganj, where it was lying almost discarded. The train belongs to 1924-period and was mainly used for transportation of timber between Ikma and Chauraha over a track of 22.4 km. In 1978 it was brought over to the forest department for use but being an uneconomical option, it was decided in 1981 that it would be phased out.

Plane Rajhans
used by Jawarharlal Nehru is also kept in the zoo.

Ah - No Elephants
: The Lucknow Zoo  has to unwillingly pull out its two elephants and sent them to two wildlife parks of the state due to an order of Central Zoo Authority.  The elephants, who always drew children in very large number in the Zoo, have been sent, along with their Mahouts to Dudhwa National Park, Lakhimpur district and Katarniya Ghat Wildlife Park in Baharaich. Ah, kids visiting Lucknow Zoo, will miss them too much.  The Machan- where children used to ride on elephants' back, is lying abandoned.

European Sculptures and excellent statues  can be seen just adjacent to Museum and  Pawanhans Plane. It is worth seeing.
