The 13th Annual Unity Jam is almost here!
We are pleased to announce the Unity Jam 2009 Scholarship award recipients!
Established in 1998 by the Chi Chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. at the University of Florida, Unity Jam is a scholarship and charity fundraising party that unites Greek and student organizations across Florida, the Southeast and the entire country.
Money raised at the event has benefited such organizations as Hope for Haiti, the United Negro College Fund, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, the September 11th Widows and Children of Fireman Fund, the Boys and Girls Club, hurricane relief efforts and thousands of dollars in scholarships.
Unity Jam, a Hispanic Heritage Month event, is coupled with an annual community canned food drive, Unity for the Community. All food is donated to a local homeless shelter, St. Francis House. Party attendees bring canned goods for a discounted entrance fee.
This year's Unity for the Community Kick Off is going to be announced in the upcoming week.
More than 500 college students attended last year's Unity Jam. More than 50 Greek and collegiate organizations have participated in the event’s 13-year history, including all NPHC, NALFO and MGC fraternal organizations.
The event could not have been such a great success in the past 13 years without the contribution and efforts of our partner organizations.
