Mission Statement


The 2008 Youth Fishing Derby took place Saturday, June 7th. sponsored by LD&M comm.

     There were 30 + participants who reeled in 172 fish.

    Most legal fish category" was won by John Thomas and Jessie Lynch, each with 19 fish.

    The largest fish was caught by Dominic Modina, a 19 1/4 inch. channel catfish, edging out Micah Smith by 5/8 inch.

    Other winners were Brett Mueller and Dylan Smit.

    All entrants were awarded nice prizes and treated to lunch with there sponsor.

Dick Horn and Rick Beckwith who measured and counted all the fish.

Jane Horn and Bernadine Schmidt who did the administrative work and handed out the caps and backpacks.

Charlie Lewis who did the recording.

Ralph Schmidt and George Rauh who were the photographers.

Bass Pro Shops for providing hundreds of dollars worth of prizes including very nice hats for all the kids and adult sponsors.

Cabelas, who provided additional prizes.

And most of all the kids parents and sponsors. who made the entire event possible.

Saturday, June 7th 2008 The L.D.M.C. will be hosting the annual Kids Fishing Tournament. The age is limited to kids 15 years old and younger. Registration is at 7:30 am and each kid must have a sponser with a limit of 3 kids per sponser.

Prizes will be awarded to everyone including 5 first place prizes.

Biggest Fish -- any species
Most Fish -- any and all species
Largest Sunfish -- Bluegill or Redear
Most Bass Less than 12" 
Most Green Sunfish or Warmouth

The prizes include rod and reel combos, takcle boxes, gift cards, and lots of other fishing gear.

Following the tournament a free BBQ will be provided.
