Accommodation for LPNMR 2007

Conference location, accommodation, and nearby facilities.

LPNMR 2007 will be held in  downtown Tempe. The street address is 699 S. Mill Avenue, Tempe, AZ.  Free wi-fi is available in downtown Tempe as well as in the conference venue. The conference will be held in the following building. This building has 2+6 class rooms with various audio-visual facilities.

The front of the above Building complex looks as follows.

There are three hotels and a motel within walking distance of the conference location. The first two places are the best in terms of the quality of the place, comfort, closeness etc. There is a big difference between the first two places and the next two. I am told that the 4th place is as good or may be better (because its closer) than the third place. Since our university will be having the graduation during the days of the conference, many of these hotels will get booked. So please book as early as possible.

  • Mission Palms resort : 3-5 minutes walk. The ASU rate is $159/day (+$9.75 hospitality) until rooms at that rate are sold out.  Please call the hotel directly and mention that you are visiting ASU.
  • Courtyard Marriott:  4-5 minutes walk. We have  a courtsey agreement with them for a rate of $135/day for some number of rooms. Please call the hotel directly (480-966-2800) and mention that you are booking for the "ASU Computer Science and Engineering event."
  • Twin Palms: 1 km (12-15 minutes walk) from the conference location. They have a shuttle that will drop and pick up from the conference location. We have made a courtsey agreement for 20-25 rooms at $82/day.  Please mention LPNMR 2007 as the group name.
  • University Motel: 3-5 minutes walk. Phone 480-966-7221. 902. S Mill Ave. Tempe . $55/day single room and $85/day double room suites. There are only 11 single rooms and 7 double rooms available. Please call the above number to book and mention LPNMR 2007 as the group name.

The next closest hotels are a cluster of hotels about 1.6-2 kms (1 mile) from the conference venue. There are two clusters. When making reservations for any of these hotels you may get a better rate if you call the hotel directly and ask them for ASU rates.

Public transportation from nearby hotels to the conference venue (699 S. Mill Avenue, Tempe 85281) can be planned using the Valley metro trip planner site. (See an example schedule from the Holiday Inn to the conference location.) To take a bus from the Rural/Apache cluster of hotels to the conference venue one can take the Red line of the Valley Metro. It takes about 6-10 minutes by bus. If one is staying close (say 2 kms from the conference venue) but not within walking distance, then an alternative to renting a car is to rent a bicycle at a location close to the conference venue. Most nearby hotels also have courtsey shuttle service which can drop people at the conference venue. (Please doublecheck.)
