Workshop on Low-Rank Models and Applications

Welcome to the website of the 2019 Workshop on Low-Rank Models and Applications (LRMA) that took place 12-13 September 2019 at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Mons, Belgium. The LRMA workshop is sponsored by the European Research Council (ERC) under the COLORAMAP project, and offered a vibrant and intimate venue for interaction between researchers from fields such as computer science, information theory, mathematics and signal processing. The scientific program of the LRMA workshop included invited plenary lectures, as well as regular contributed talks.

When and where?

The workshop took place in Mons, Belgium, the 12th and 13th of September 2019. Mons is a small city in the French speaking part of Belgium. It is accessible by train from Brussels within one hour (one direct train per hour from the Brussels airport).

What?

The workshop was focused on the use of low-rank models in signal processing, data mining and machine learning. This includes but is not restricted to all aspects of low-rank matrix approximations (such as nonnegative matrix factorization, subspace clustering, independent component analysis, low-rank matrix completion, sparse component analysis, etc.).

Many aspects of this class of problems were presented: theory, algorithms and applications (in particular hyperspectral imaging, document analysis and blind sound separation).
