The Blood Of Jesus
Speaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran
Gist: God of God's came down in human form. Like us He partook of flesh and blood. He shed His sacred blood for us on the Cross. It is the blood of Christ that removes the stains in our soul and makes us clean and holy.
"For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul." (Leviticus 17:11)
"Without shedding of blood there is no remission." (Hebrews 9:22)
Can we obtain remission of sins by shedding human blood? The Bible says, "Yes, there is a precious blood that alone can obtain the remission of sins that we human beings commit." The precious blood of Jesus brings remission to our sins.
"The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin." (1 John 1:7)
There is a very devoted servant of God known to me. He lived a clean and wholesome life. Suddenly he took ill with pneumonia and was admitted in the hospital. All the treatment given had no effect on the disease. Finally, a doctor who examined him was shocked to find that he was a victim of the deadly disease AIDS, for which there was no cure. Five years earlier, in another hospital, he needed blood transfusion. The blood given him had been that of an AIDS patient. And that is how, the deadly disease entered him.
Man's blood is diseased, sin-stained. How can it wash away our sins? That is why the God of god's came down in human form. Like us, He became flesh and blood (Hebrews 2:14, 15). He shed His sacred blood for us on the Cross. It is the blood of Christ that removes the stains in our soul and makes us clean and holy.
"You were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot." (1 Peter 1:18, 19)
Many years ago a servant of God told one story. A small boy in a village was playing, when some lime dust fell into both his eyes. He screamed in anguish, "Alas! My eyes are burning!" The neighbours came running and carried him to the local hospital. The doctor said, "The boy may lose his sight. Bring some blood: be it of an ox or a goat; and pour it into his eyes. Be quick. Blood alone can dissolve the lime and clean the eyes." The boy's mother who stood by him said, "There is no time to search for ox or goat. Slit my finger a little and pour the blood into my son's eyes." Accordingly, they made an incision in one of her fingers and poured the blood into her son's eyes. Even amidst her pain, the mother wailed, "My son, are you able to see now? Is the burning reduced? Shall we pour some more blood?"
So is our gracious Lord Jesus! On His head, a crown of thorns; Hands and legs pierced by nails; Yet, He did not murmur.
"He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth." (Isaiah 53:7)
With a heart of love as that of a mother, He declared, "My children's hearts are loaded with sins and iniquities. They languish, unable to see God. Let My flesh be torn and My blood poured upon them. Let My children's spiritual eyes be opened. Let them see God." That is the love of Christ! The blood of Jesus Christ has selfless love soaked in it. It is spotless and precious blood. "The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1:7).
Loving Lord Jesus,
With You behind me, in front of me and within me, whom or what do I have to fear? You have purchased me with Your precious blood that You shed for me on the cross of Calvary. I open my heart to Your love. Fill my heart with Your love and make me worthy to see God. I praise You because You have heard my prayer.
