Restoring Pride in the name of Battersea

Wandsworth Council Meeting, Wednesday 26th October 2005

A motion on Restoring Pride in the name of Battersea was moved by Councillor Tony Belton and seconded by Councillor Philip Beddows. An amendment was moved by Councillor Edward Lister and Councillor Maurice Heaster. This was put to the vote and received unanimous support from Councillors.

The substantive motion (see page 691 below) was then put to the vote and received unanimous support from all Councillors of both parties. This was an historic step in providing official support in recognising the importance of ensuring that the name of Battersea was not supplanted in error with that of Clapham, principally in SW11 but also in other parts of Battersea.

The following is taken from pages 689-691 of the minutes of the meeting of Wandsworth Borough Council on Wednesday 26th October 2005.
