Lori Walls
is from Eunice.  Her family runs Johnson's Boucanière in downtown Lafayette.  Her knowledge of French is limited, but her desire to use it and learn it well is not.  So when it came time to decorate the family van in preparation for the Superbowl, they decided they would skip the irritatingly faux French "Geaux* team!" and go for la vraie affaire.  After consulting with CODOFIL employee and Alliance Française teacher Jessica Cormier, they went with the slogan you see pictured here.  That's daughter Helena with Lori in back of their van. You'll also note that they took the trouble to find out how to spell boucanière right, too. Johnson's Boucanière, 1111 St. John St., Lafayette.

*The letter combination "ge" in French is pronounced "zh"---think of the final sound in the word "garage"---so "Geaux!" makes no more sense in English than it does in French.
