2016 PSAT Test Date at Louisa County High School: October 19, 2016; 8:00
To sign up for the PSAT, students should stop by the School Counseling Office. The cost of the test is $20.00 (cash or check made payable to Louisa County High School). If you or your child believes he/she may be eligible for a fee waiver, have him/her speak with the College Adviser or his/her school counselor for more information. Fee waivers are available for the PSAT to eligible juniors. Sign up by October 7th.

Boys State

ATTN JUNIOR MALES:

o   Are you interested in learning more about the state and local government, the political process, the law and court system and parliamentary procedure?  Then, the 2016 Virginia American Legion Boys State program may be a great opportunity for you. Applications are currently being accepted and are available with Mrs. Schwartz in guidance. If you are interested, please complete an application and return it to Mrs. Schwartz by Thursday, March 17th. See Mr.Slaughter in guidance for more information. Students who are accepted must be able to attend the summer program which will be held at Radford University, Radford, Virginia from June 19 - June 25, 2016. 

ASVAB Test

The ASVAB test will be given this spring on April 7, 2016 at 8 a.m. This test is available to the first 40 students who sign up. Students must be in grades 10-12 to test. Come by the School Counseling office to sign up today!

Youth Law Cadet

Interested in pursuing a career in Law Enforcement? Stop by the School Counseling Office to pick up an application to attend the Youth Law Cadet program this summer (July 17th-July 22nd) at the VA State Police Academy. APPLICATIONS DUE MARCH 17th!

Purpose:
*To encourage young people to consider careers in law enforcement. The program is not limited to a potential career as a police officer.  Students can have an interest in other areas of law, for example, attorney or home land security.  To also foster a respect for law enforcement as well as enhancing community relations. 
Eligibility Requirements:
*Have to be an 11th grader entering into 12th grade next year.
*Must have a valid driver’s license  or learner’s permit.
*Must be available to attend the entire program session (TBA).
*Program is for males and females.

Financial Aid Night

December 2015

Come out and join us to learn about how to tackle the financial aid process. A representative from a local college will be at LCHS to answer questions about the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and other means of obtaining financial assistance to pay for college.

College Night at LCHS- 11/5/2015 6:00 pm

College Nights in Virginia is a college planning event for LCHS students and their families. There will be an informational presentation

about the college planning process. In addition to the presentation there will be:

  • Pizza and refreshments
  • Free college planning resources
  • A chance to win a scholarship!!

Attention Seniors!!! Come to the College Application Planning Workshops (CAP)

New this year, all seniors who are considering applying to four year colleges/universities, should attend a College Application Planning Workshop (CAP). These workshops will run from Sept. 15th through Sept. 26th during ROAR Block. They will be held in Q-6. The school counselors and college adviser will give a rundown on each part of the college application process to help you feel more prepared as you begin applying to different schools. Don't miss out on this opportunity!!

The ASVAB Test has been scheduled for 10/30

The ASVAB test, which is used as a career assessment tool and for entrance into the military, will be given at LCHS on Thursday October 30th from 8:00-11:30. Please see Mrs. Coleman in Q-14 to sign up for the test. Space is limited and will be first come, first served.
