Lovettsville's Tenth Annual Christkindlmarkt

posted May 25, 2016, 2:04 PM by David Bennett   [ updated Jul 7, 2017, 2:01 PM ]

The LVGS is pleased to announce the ninth annual Lovettsville Christkindlmarkt that will take place at the Lovettsville Game Protective Association Hall on Saturday, December 2nd (10 AM to 6 PM) and Sunday, December 3rdth, 2017 (10AM to 5PM). Last year's market surpassed previous ones in the number of unique crafters and vendors that were presents (over 25), repeated visits from the authentic St. Nicholas in full bishop's attire imported from Bavaria along with Krampus, the Woodsman (Belznickle), and the Christkindl angel. We had our past wonderful live  musical acts as well as delicious authentic German/Austrian foods served by the Game Protective Association and Cub and local youth raising money and awareness for teen suicide prevention efforts of the Ryan Bartel Foundation, German programs at local schools, and other worthy nonprofits.  This year we promise the same high quality of music acts that this nationally and regionally acclaimed event has provided over the past years as well as an even larger selection of artisan sausages from the Quaker Creek Store in Goshen, NY and more libations and hot food offerings if conceivable! That being said, save the date and we look forward to seeing you and we are happy that we have become part of your family tradition of kicking off the Christmas holiday season.

Admission is $3.00 for those 13 and older, and guests under 13 years of age are free. The admission fee is good for both days of the market and helps the Society defray costs of the market, plan and pay for other cultural events that support its mission to preserve the Loudoun Valley's nearly 300 year old German history, and sponsor local Loudoun Valley youth-oriented nonprofits. The Lovettsville Christkindlmarkt has been touted as one of the top 10 must visit Christkindlmarkts in the US by various travel and activities websites--an honor that truly pleases us!

The date for Christkindlmarkt 2013 has been set:  Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. If you are an interested vendor, please visit our resources page to retrieve an application. We sold out and added 8 additional vendor spots by mid September last year, so remember to submit your application as soon as possible.

The 2013 Lovettsville Christkindlmarkt promised to be even bigger and better (is that humanly possible?) than the last year event. It is amazing to see how we have grown in six years from a one day event with a handful of vendors, no live music or decorations, to a full-blown two day event filled with multiple German food and drink vendors with live music and activities to get the children in the holiday spirit.

We look forward to seeing you again! Ade und bis bald!
