Los Angeles, CA   90037

Opened: 1925 as the Figueroa Theatre.  It was operated by Fox West Coast for years and known then as the Fox Figueroa.

The building was on the SW corner of S. Figueroa St. and Santa Barbara Avenue. Santa Barbara later got designated a boulevard and was later renamed Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.

The office building address was originally 508 W. Santa Barbara Ave.

Architect:  William Sterling Hebbard, a San Diego architect.

Seating: 1470

Status: Demolished in the 60s. The site now has a branch bank on the corner.

More information: See the Cinema Treasures page for a bit more data.

GSJansen has a nice "then and now" comparison of the SW corner of Figueroa and MLK on his Flickr album.

The West Adams - Normandie website has a nice rundown on other theatres in the area.

The Pacific Coast Architecture Database has a page on the Fox Figueroa.
