Playing the banjo is fun for me. I enjoy it. It is never going to be something I have to depend on for a pay check, nor do I have any lofty ideas that I will ever be a legendary picker...unless of course, it is that I am really bad, and don't know it.

I get so distracted when I try to be serious. I'll be practicing a particular lick 1000 times, just like Earl says I should, and my brain starts to wander, then my fingers.....and I've lost count, was that 30 or 50 of the 1000???? Nuts. I'll just have to start over.....

Then the metronome ...tick...................tick................tick.................tick.................tick..............

I think maybe, I can do it a little faster...ticktickticktickticktickticktickticktickticktickticktickticktick

Well, maybe not that fast.

Hmm....what's that funny sound when I pluck the 5th string....That really annoys me....

So after changing out the bridge three times, checking all the brackets, removing the resonator, and adjusting the tailpiece, I realize that the button on my cuff is touching the head, creating a slight buzz when I plucked the 5th string. 

Back to practicing that  roll, TIMTIMIM....or was it  TITMTITM? ticktickticktickticktick .... OOPS

Reset the metronome... Tick....Tick....Tick....Tick....Tick....Tick....Tick....Tick....Tick....Tick....

Ohh, I just found the music for "Your Cheating Heart" that is such a fun song on the banjo....Much more interesting than practicing rolls.....Turn off the metronome ....
