Telephone Tango for Laptop Orchestra
composed by Courtney Brown and Ryan Spicer
A musical version of the game Telephone, where players send different versions of rhythm patterns to each other. Each player plays the pattern that the previous player in a chain has sent, rather than the original notated rhythm.
Hercules Versus Strife
composed by Isaac Wallis, Byron Lahey, Michael Baran, Patrick McCracken and Joseph Junker
A combination acoustic and laptop piece. Performers drum on surfaces monitored by contact microphones, with each strike triggering digital samples or processing and amplification of the strike. The physical movement of the players is monitored via webcam and controls the characteristics of the triggered sounds. The piece is performed in conjunction with and directed by a reading of Aesop's Fable "Hercules versus Strife".
