He served as an electoral observer for the historic 2000 Mexican presidential elections, the 2002 Nicaraguan presidential elections, and the 2004 Dominican Republic presidential elections. He was a host delegate for the 2002 Ohio Electoral Exchange Program. He was an official translator at the 1994 United Nations World Summit on Trade Efficiency, and served as a board member for the US Red Cross of Northwest Florida.

In the early portion of his career, he learned the media business and perfected his communications skills as the photography director and editor of the sports section for a local Columbus, Ohio weekly newspaper (now defunct); sound engineer for many important acts of the 1980s and 1990s such as Jade & Marvin Hamlisch; and producer for many television and commercial video projects. He served academic internships at WOSU, Rockwell International (B-1B Bomber & Space Shuttle Projects), & the state of Ohio. As a volunteer, he taught Spanish to elementary school students, and during university studies, he worked to integrate Cuban refugees into American society.

An accomplished amateur chef, in his spare time Loren Moss is writing a Spanish language cookbook.
