Environmental Education:

At the heart of the LOLM mission is the need to further expand and develop our pollution prevention program, which was established to:

  1. Educate inner-city residents of the health risks that stem from common environmental contaminants.
  2. Train residents on how to properly recognize and screen for environmental hazards and utilize preventive measures to reduce the number of health concerns.
  3. Increase awareness of the advantages to implementing green building principles.

Energy-Efficient Solutions:

  1. Advancing energy-independence within low-income communities by bringing residents up to date on ways to efficiently use and conserve energy.
  2. Employing the use of clean renewable-energy sources (e.g. geo-thermal, solar, wind, etc.) and putting mechanisms in place to support weatherizing existing homes.

Economic Revitalization:

  1. Recruiting and training inner-city residents to form a viable green-collar workforce, equipped to retro-fit and construct eco-friendly, energy-efficient housing.
  2. Promoting green homeownership by providing financial aid and healthy housing advice to potential homebuyers within the targeted communities.
