At all baseball games and practice please remember to use appropriate conduct at the ball field. You are an extension of the Mavericks program and we take pride in holding the bigger picture above everything and that picture is the KIDS. This is what has helped our program grow to what it is today. Competition causes people to act differently than they normally would and due to this please make sure you are aware of the following items:
---------------------------------
The most important thing to remember is that you are a representative of the Mavericks program so please put the program above your frustrations. I know that umpires can make calls that maybe the wrong call but in the end it does not do any good to go off on the umpire because they will just hold it against our kids and in the end that is who will suffer. Umpires are out there doing their best and they will get some calls wrong but they usually get them wrong on both sides so they will usually offset themselves.
---------------------------------
Not only does our program want you to give the upmost respect to all officials we NEED you to allow the coaches to coach the team. Trust the coaches to do their job from the start of the game to the end of the game at every aspect. I can promise you that they will protect your child and will argue calls for you when need be. As a parent we ask you to make positive comments to your child but when it comes to instruction, let the coaches do their job. We ask that all players remain in the dugout unless they need to get a drink so this does not cause any extra frustrations in the future. Please do not push the limit with this because these problems will not be tolerated by the Mavericks program. This is a great opportunity for you to come to the game and just be a parent and enjoy the game.
---------------------------------
The last reminder is that there are certain things that are taught to the players at the different ages and if you "yell" the wrong thing the players get confused and then they make a mistake. Please understand that this entire program is a process and by the end of the process the players will know what you mean when you yell it but please trust the program to get them into that situation.
For example our 8u outfielders are taught to throw the ball to 2nd base only. If you as a parent take the coaching role upon yourself and yell "3" the kids will wing the ball to 3rd base when no one else on the field is expecting it.
---------------------------------
When in doubt be as positive as you can be and cheer for every kid on the field. The point of little league baseball is to prepare them for the high school baseball and I will not allow anyone to get in the way of that vision, it is always the kids first (set a good example).
---------------------------------
Please make sure that your son wears the right jersey, game pants, and color socks for each game. The uniforms they need is listed to the left under each game that is being played each day. If you have any questions please let me know but it is very important that each kid wears the same uniform so we represent our baseball program and our sponsors accurately. If there becomes a problem with players not wearing the right uniforms then their playing time on the field may be effected and that is the last thing we want to do so please just wear the right uniforms so we do not have to take action for this.
