Welcome to Blount County Schools

The Blount County School System is so fortunate to be supported by the Blount County Education Foundation! The Foundation was created in November of 1998 with the mission, to promote academic excellence in Blount County Schools.  They have been very successful in promoting this mission through the many projects of the Foundation. As a result, over $1.6 million has been provided to our schools. What an amazing accomplishment!

The Blount County Education Foundation is a success because of the many individuals, organizations, and businesses who contribute! With contributions starting as small as a $1.00 and going up to much more, Foundation contributors have made a great impact on the resources and programs available to provide the best education possible for our students. The 14th Annual Blount County Education Foundation Radio-thon was held on September 27th and it was an unprecedented success! The total from the Radio-thon giving was $131,633, the largest amount ever! This also marked the fifth consecutive year the Radio-thon raised over $100,000! This amazing response to the Foundation’s Radio-thon shows that Blount Countians are proud of this organization and want to be a part of its great work to create better learning opportunities for our students. Our employees are committed as well, contributing over $33,000 for the 2012-2013 school year! Wow!

The Blount County Education Foundation is guided by a Board of Directors. Each school area is represented on this Board, who serve as volunteers, without any financial compensation for their service. This group of 16 individuals works tirelessly on behalf of the Foundation and we are so grateful for their service! Projects of the Foundation include: classroom grant program, tutoring for at-risk students, resources for struggling students, summer library access, summer camps, spelling bee, scholars bowl, young authors’ program, recognizing the National Board Certified teachers, and honoring the elementary and secondary teachers of the year. The 2012-2013 Classroom Grant Awards will be announced on Thursday, December 6th at 7:30 a.m. on WCRL and I encourage you to listen to the broadcast and hear the grant winners announced.

I want to express my gratitude, on behalf of the students, teachers, and staff, for the great support the Foundation is providing for our academic efforts! Thank you to all those who have contributed to the Foundation, making such a impact on student achievement in Blount County Schools! With over $1.6 million in support of Blount County Schools, the students have been recipients of better resources and programs! What a great organization we have in the Blount County Education Foundation!
