Child Safety Seat Inspections

These free inspections are sponsored by the Safe Kids of Douglas County Coalition. Appointments can be made at designated times each month. Call Connect Care at (785) 749-5800. Please have your child’s safety seat already installed upon arrival, and it will then be inspected for safe and correct installation. Click on link for upcoming dates and times of appointment only sessions as well as occasional drive-up checklane events where no appointment is required.


AHA Pediatric First Aid (for child care providers)

 

First Aid certification class for child care or licensing requirements, or for camp counselors, lifeguards, etc.  Does not include CPR.  Does cover typical medical emergencies (such as fainting, seizure, and diabetes)  and traumatic injury  such as bleeding, fractures, and Heat and cold-related problems.  Four hour class, typically 8am to noon on Saturdays.  Custom classes available. 

Class fee is $50/person.  Card issued good for 2 years. 



AHA Heartsaver CPR AED (for child care providers)

This American Heart Association class provides CPR certification for child care or other licensing requirements. Includes all of the information contained in CPR for Family and Friends but also gives a practical test for certification and covers use of an AED device. $45/person. Not usually acceptable for healthcare provider certification.



AHA Family and Friends CPR

This American Heart Association program covers basic life support skills including CPR for infants, children, and adult, handling a choking emergency and injury prevention information. $25/person or $40/couple from same family.



Newborn Safety

This class is for expectant and new parents or other caregivers of infants and will help prepare them with the latest knowledge to keep their baby safe. Topics include: infant CPR and choking, child passenger safety, safe sleep and home & other safety issues. $25/person or $40/couple from same family. Class size limited so enroll early.
