Lessons of a Lifetime™ (LLT) is an innovative program that was created at the Charles E. Smith Life Communities to gather the wisdom of seniors and improve intergenerational relations. It is a project in which highly trained volunteers help senior citizens to record the lessons of their lives through a series of questions concerning values, beliefs, and experiences. These words of wisdom from the elderly (which we call "ethical wills") are then available to be shared with the next generation.
An Ethical Will is not a legal document. Rather, it is a collection of one's life lessons. An Ethical Will is conducted through a series of questions concerning values, beliefs, and important messages to share with the next generation. It is a wonderful way to pass words of wisdom from one generation to the next.
