Zhi LIU


Assistant Professor, Ph.D.  

I am currently working as an Assistant Professor at Shizuoka University, Japan.  I am also an Adjunct Researcher in Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan


Before moving to Waseda University in Dec. 2014, I was a Research Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science(JSPS

Research Fellow) from 2012 to 2015 and a Research Assistant in the National Institute of Informatics from 2009 to 2014. From 2014 to 2017, I worked as Junior Researcher (Assistant Professor) in  Waseda University working with Professor Yoshiaki Tanaka Hiroshi Watanabe and Toshitaka Tsuda.

I got my bachelor degree in University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2009, and Ph.D. degree in Informatics in the Department of Informatics, School of Multidisciplinary Science, The Graduate University for Advanced Studies in 2014. My advisors are Prof. Yusheng Ji and Gene Cheung.


During my Ph.D study, I visited Prof. Xuemin (Sherman) Shen 's Gourp in University of Waterloo from Feb.2012 to Mar.2012 as a Visiting Researcher. I visted Prof. Jacob Chakareski (now with The University of Alabama, US) in EPFL,Switzerland as a visiting researcher in May 2012, and visited Prof. Pascal Frossard of EPFL in March, 2013. I visited Prof.Jie Liang and Prof. Ivan V. Bajic of Simon Fraser University, Canada in March, 2014.
