Leisure and Recreation

Little Dewchurch benefits from a wide range of leisure and recreational activities, most of which are well attended by the Parish community, with some also appealing to people living outside the Parish. See the subpages below for more information on 'Flicks in the Sticks', Over 60's Club (which meets in the hall every 2nd Tuesday of each month), Whist (whist evenings are held every month),  Line dancing, Zumba, Yoga, Pilates, Indoor Bowling, Loop & Soup walks and various other sporting activities.

Additionally, in 2015, the very proactive 'Little Dewchurch Social Committee' (LDSC) was formed (not to be confused with the Village Hall Social Committee or the Church Social Committee which both organise wonderful public events within their own relevant domains).  The LDSC comprises a fun group of volunteers who organise village events throughout the year and their aim is purely create enjoyable, community-spirited (free or minimal-cost) events which bring parishioners together.  Annually they organise events such as St George's Day Country Dancing in Spring, a Fun Day on the Green in August, a Ceilidh in Autumn, a Bonfire Night in November and a Festive Singing Evening in December.  Any funds raised through the events are spent on parish needs and, so far, LDSC has purchased a public Defibrillator housed in a climate controlled cabinet (fitted under the porch of the Village Hall), external CCTV for the Village Hall and the Committee is delighted to have just been successful in being awarded a grant to create a Dog Zone (a fenced area within the playing field where dog walkers can exercise their dogs off-lead away from livestock and the danger of vehicles on the local narrow lanes).  If you'd like to join the LDSC, help with any events or have suggestions for future events, please contact the Chairman, Meg Bailey, on 01432 840538.
