My name is Michael, but I also answer to Espilan, that being the name I am best known by online. I work at my local newspaper, handling various tasks for multiple departments around the office.
My hobbies primarily include playing games and doing various music-related things, the latter of which I had something of a small reputation for mostly between 2003–2007, both online and among family/friends offline. Check the MIDIs section here if you want a look (alternatively: here), but please be warned that the majority of what you'll find is fairly old, with some of it dating as far back as 2003. While I no longer regularly do MIDI stuff, in late 2014 I completed a huge project titled Fates Divided, which can be found in its own subsection under MIDIs. Other music-related interests include listening to progressive metal, electronica, orchestral, or chiptunes, with the latter of these (especially anything using 2A03+VRC6) being of particular interest.
When it comes to video games, my genre preferences are adventure, role-playing, platformers, and puzzles. I consider myself to be competent (but not at a competitive level) at Tetris, and could be considered a fan of both Etrian Odyssey and Phantasy Star. When it comes to multiplayer, I prefer co-op modes over competitive ones.
I've also played a handful of online games over the years, including (but not limited to) Asda Story, Dragonica, Dungeon Fighter Online, Elsword, Final Fantasy XIV, Flyff, Phantasy Star Online (PSO1/Blue Burst, PSO2, and PSO2 New Genesis) and Ragnarök Online. Originally, I generally only played as whatever was offered as the "mage" classes and that is largely what I prefer still, but as time went on I branched out and started looking into other classes and their respective playstyles. I am currently not active in any MMOs outside of the occasional fling in DFO or PSO2 New Genesis.
