Group: Media – What else influences a story? We will examine the structure of a print news story. Results: Read headlines. Picked one story. Wrote 3 questions based on headline. We found out that not all of our questions could be answered.

Group: Solar system – The hydrogen atom that moved to the edge of the sun as helium atom is still intriguing us. Dr. Hrbek will talk to us about atoms, elements of the Periodic Table, and other planet-related items. Results: Chemist Dr. Hrbek talked to us about the background and language of chemistry. For example, one element + another element makes a molecule. Stable atoms have equal numbers of protons and electrons. Ions are atoms with unequal numbers of electrons to protons. Thank you, Dr. Hrbek.

Group: Supreme Court Landmark Case #3 -- Gibson v. Ogden (1824) about interstate commerce.
Review Gibson v. Ogden (1824), US v. EC Knight Company (1895). Hammer v. Dagenhart (1918), & National Labor Relations Board v. Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp (1937).
Our study of the politics behind Roosevelt's push for minimum wage and how we finally got a federal minimum wage law continues as we read more of Fair Labor Standard Act of 1938. Results: Don led the group in reading another 3 paragraphs of this handout.

Group: Food Science: Salt -- We will check on our cheese experiment and then look at more intriguing information about the element salt. Results: We checked on our cheese -- no changes yet. We read p. 94-95 "How Salt Affects Taste" from Herve This' book Molecular Gastonomy: Exploring the Science of Flavor.
