The citizenship focus this week is on Utah's government leaders - Governor, Lt. Governor, Legislators, and Supreme Court. Here are a few questions to ponder: Who are they? What do they do to help me? What is 1 new fact about each one to which I can relate? How can I contact them?
Mon 7/27 - Sentence Work: Allegories are stories that have two meanings: a literal meaning and a symbolic meaning. While stories and movies can be read or viewed as simply good, interesting stories, many stories have hidden layers of meaning. Find out the hidden, symbolic meaning of Alice in Wonderland.
Book Group: READ pages 81-83 of Excuses Begone by Wayne Dyer. (You can find a free pdf of this book on the web.) According to Dyer, what kind of thinking is aligned with excuses? What does Dyer mean by the term "vibrational match?" Send your email response to lac@LiteracyActionCenter.org.
Tue 7/28 - Story problem: Olivia’s walk to the grocery store took twelve minutes, and her walk from there to the bus stop took five minutes. How long did she walk? What % of her walk was spent between the grocery store and the bus stop?
Graphs/questions: Answer the questions about the graphs of four household power bills. Today, start with question 3. (Questions and copies of the bills are in pdf files below.)

Thu 7/30 - Electronics: Diagram a series circuit.
Supreme Court landmark cases: We just finished the story behind the first landmark case - Marbury v. Madison (1803). We are moving on to case #2 - McCulloch v. Maryland (1819). Before we read about the details, we will look at what was going on from 1796-1819.
Brain-Mind Connection: We are exploring what we know and what we want to know about the brain. Tonight, we'll view a video about the brain vs. mind.
Fri 7/31 - Employment discussion will continue with #9 in the attitude section in soft skills in the workplace. Here's some interesting quotes related to softskills.
Astronomy: What do we know about Mars? Read about 7 of the biggest mysteries of Mars. Take notes. We'll take a quiz on this reading on 8/7/15.
