Here are some of the tasks we'll be doing this week during group. Find them interesting? Then, join us.
The citizenship focus this week is the original thirteen states. Based on population, which one was the largest? The smallest? Which one was started first? For what reason? Which one was founded last? For what reason? The original states were divided into three categories. List which states were in each category.
Mon 8/3 - Sentence Work: What was the Age of Reason or Enlightenment in England about in the 1770s?
Book Group: READ pages 81-83 of Excuses Begone by Wayne Dyer. (You can find a free pdf of this book on the web.) According to Dyer, what kind of thinking is aligned with excuses? What does Dyer mean by the term "vibrational match?" Send your email response to lac@LiteracyActionCenter.org.
Tue 8/4 - Story problem: Last month, Jenny weighed 201 pounds. This month, she weighs 14 pounds less than last month. How much does she weigh this month. How much does she weigh this month? What percent of her weight did she lose?
Graphs/questions: Answer the questions about the graphs of four household power bills. Today, start with question 6. (Questions and copies of the bills are in pdf files below.)

Thu 8/6 - Electronics: Write directions for setting up a series circuit.
Supreme Court landmark cases: What was going on from 1796-1819? Today, we'll explore our question, "How do scientists know what dates and ages things are?"

Fri 8/7 - Employment: Discussion will continue with #9 in the attitude section in soft skills in the workplace.
Astronomy: Last week, you read and took notes on 7 of the biggest mysteries of Mars. We'll take a quiz on this reading today. Bring your notes.
