Mon 8/17 - Sentence Work: Gulliver's Travels is a satire about politics and religion in the 1700s. How has the world changed since then?
Book Group: READ pages 85-87 of Excuses Begone by Wayne Dyer. (You can find a free pdf of this book on the web.) Start p.83 with title: “Thinking Alignment.” Dyer tells us to change our thinking from shortages to _________.
Tue 8/18 - Story problem: r Mother is shopping. She puts 5 cans of vegetables into her basket. When she puts a sixth can in the basket, she thought, “This basket is heavy.” (1) If each can weighs 25 ounces and the basket weighs 10oz, how much does her basket weigh in all? (2) What percentage does one can contribute to the weight of the basket? (3) What item in Mother’s life could represent this item? [e.g., 10lb bag of flour or sugar; 10lb baby at birth or within months of birth]
Sentence Work: Jonathan Swift wrote The Tale of a Tub. This book is a satire about three religions: Catholicism, Calvinism, and Lutheranism. Which son represents which religion?

Supreme Court landmark cases: Today, we'll explore our question, "How do scientists know what dates and ages things are?" (We didn't do this last week )
Fri 8/21 - Employment: We will continue with "It is important under writing skills in the communication section in soft skills in the workplace.
