Overview

Literacy Action Center, a qualified 501(c)(3), transforms English-speaking adults into skilled, passionate, habitual, critical readers, writers, and mathematicians, who are career-minded and tech savvy. We focus on adults living in Salt Lake and Davis Counties in Utah, USA. (While this site is developed by Literacy Action Center's learners and volunteers, other people are welcome to use this site.)
This site is divided into 5 sections: 
  • Intake describes the intake process.
  • Instruction explains structure, materials, and lessons.
  • Web Resources shares web sites identified by our learners as "good" sites they like to use. 
  • Results provides a place to brag about changes in our learners' lives. 
  • Contact Us invites you to make financial donations.

    Literacy Action Center site (3595 S Main Street, SLC)

    Mondays, *Wednesdays, Fridays
       Open - 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM (lunch break 12-12:30 PM)
                 12:30 PM -   4:00 PM

    Tuesdays, Thursdays
       Open - 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM (lunch break 12-12:30 PM)
                 12:30 PM -   4:00 PM
                   4:00 PM -   7:30 PM

    *Also open:
    (some) Wednesdays: 4:00 - 6:00 PM for special groups

    March 30 (F) Closed for "Good Friday"
    May 28 (M) Closed for Memorial Day
    July 4 (W) Closed for Independence Day
    July 23-24 (M/T) Closed for Pioneer Day
    August 30 (R) Close at 12 noon to prepare for fundraiser

    October 24 (W) Learners going on field trip to UATT Conference - no classes at the center

    November 21-23 (close W 11/21 at noon, then all day on RF)
