LIR journal logo

Library and Information Research (LIR) is published by the Library and Information Research Group.  It publishes both refereed and non-refereed submissions.  Before 2003 the journal was published under the title Library and Information Research News.

We welcome submissions of research articles, reports and book reviews from both practitioners and academic researchers; and of course, we are always interested to hear your feedback on the journal.

The latest issue of the journal can be found at The publication dates are May, September and December/January.

LIR announcements including Calls for Papers can be viewed at

Email Bulletin

LIRG committee publish a monthly email bulletin for CILIP LIRG members with news of LIRG events, awards and other activities.  We use the email bulletin as a way to keep our members informed of current news topics of interest to the group.

Members are now automatically opted into email bulletins so don't need to do anything unless they do not wish to receive email bulletins from the Branch (Regional Network) and SIGs they have selected as part of their membership.

LIRG welcomes materials for inclusion in subsequent bulletins. Please send news items, notices, meeting reports, or announcements of forthcoming events you would like the LIRG membership to know about to

LIRG Researcher Directory

At Umbrella 2009 LIRG launched a new Directory of people researching LIS in the UK and Ireland.  Entries have been classified using the JITA Classification Schema.  If you are a practitioner or an academic, conducting or planning on conducting, research in the LIS area at any level please add yourself.  Feel free to make an entry for each different research interest you have.  Please email LIRG if you have any questions or requests for edits or deletions of existing records.
