BIO 244 INTRO to PHARM

Introduction to Pharmacology, primarily for Pre-Nursing and Nursing Students





This class gives an introduction to major drug classes.  It is in lecture format.  Depending on class time topics will include:

    Introduction, pharmacodynamics/pharmacokinetics

    Autonomic drugs

    Drugs for moderate pain and local anesthesia

    Drugs affecting the Central Nervous System

    Drugs affecting the heart and blood pressure

    GI drugs

    Lung drugs

    Drugs for Diabetes Mellitus type 1 and 2

    Lipid lowering drugs

    Endocrine drugs
