UCINET in Depth

Working with real data in UCINET, using menus and the command line interface
Instructors: Rich DeJordy and Steve Borgatti

Beyond the design and analytic methods, social network research also involves the construction, manipulation, and management of network data. UCINET provides a suite of tools to facilitate this both through the menu system and the command line interface. This workshop focuses on these activities. Mirroring the progression of a research project, and using data contributed by participants and instructors from actual research projects, in this workshop, participants will

- manipulate, transform, and reshape data
- use the command line to perform analyses
- use batch files to store and re-execute commands
- use the forfiles command to perform repeated analyses

The workshop is also designed to accommodate the use of real data contributed by participants who are willing to share their data with the other participants (with the understanding that they will destroy their copies of the data once the workshop is concluded). If needed, the instructors will provide additional data from research projects published in journals like Administrative Science Quarterly and Management Science.
