Year 5 - Miss Gilbody

Welcome to Year 5 and the second half of our Autumn term!

Important information

Miss Gilbody is the class teacher and Mrs Nicholas will also be supporting the class. Please note that Mrs Crossen will teach the class on a Thursday afternoon.

For this half term PE will be on Wednesday and Friday, though please try to have PE kits in school everyday.

Homework is distributed on a Friday and is to be returned by the following Wednesday. This will be a piece of English, Maths, Spelling and often a piece of Topic or Science. If your child needs another homework sheet for any reason, spares can be found in the homework tray in the classroom. You can also download a copy of the homework for this half term here.

We will have weekly spelling and times tables tests, so please keep practising. Reading records will be checked on a Friday morning and we expect that the children should have read at least 3 times a week, class dojos will be given out for children who have done so.

Our curriculum for Year 5 can be found here.

During this term, our overarching topic is ‘Greece is the word!’ where we will be exploring the legacy of the Ancient Greeks.

As Scientists - We will begin to understand the forces around us.
