Caring, learning and achieving together
Lindow Primary School is a special place. The ethos of the school is built upon the values of genuine inclusivity, respect, positive attitude and warmth.
Everyone associated with the school contributes to its welcoming and unique hospitality; the consequence of this is that there is an authentic feeling of unity and family within the school. We all really enjoy being part of this thriving and dynamic community.
We are very proud of our hearing impaired resource base, as we are of every child in the school. We try to cater for all children's learning styles and strengths. We celebrate all achievements and try to be as creative as we can be. We regularly hold special theme weeks, such as Mantle of the Expert, Arts Week and Sports Week. For instance, last year the children travelled back in time to see monarchs (teachers dressed up) from the past, were very successful in the Wilmslow Olympics and cross country and each child contributed towards our art exhibition.
We provide the best education we can for every child. Whether the child is gifted and talented or needs support we will do the very best we can for their benefit. Last year's KS2 SATS results are testament to this approach, where all indications and targets were surpassed. Progress and attainment of every child is very carefully measured, each term every teacher meets with the headteacher to discuss each child's progress and attainment and set targets for reading, writing and mathematics. Through exceptional assessment procedures we are able to evidence that the average amount of progress made by children at Lindow was exceptional last academic year.
Every member of the school is in one of four houses (Dunham, Lyme, Styal and Tatton). Each house has a member of staff who acts as Head of House; this also serves as extra pastoral support for every child. Each house also has two House Captains (pupils) who are appointed each term. We also appoint a Head Boy and Head Girl and have a very active students' council. Behaviour is of a high standard, the children act in a respectful manner at all times; each child is rewarded for exhibiting high values by enjoying Platinum Time each week.
Look out for many exciting events, such as, Lindow Eisteddfod, Lindow's Got Talent, class assemblies and Grandparents' Afternoon.
The PTA and governors are exceptionally supportive of the school. Many events are held during the year (quizzes for adults, race nights, discos for children, etc.), however, the Summer and Christmas fairs can only be described as spectacular.
Each classroom was carefully redesigned during the academic year of 2011-12 to ensure that the space is carefully utilised to maximise the educational benefit for the children. From September 2013, we have moved to seven full classes.
At Lindow, we work hard, play fair and treat each other with respect.
We ensure that all pupils achieve their full potential; we are committed to developing the whole child -
emotionally, socially, physically and spiritually, as well as intellectually.
These are our values...
