I am so PROUD to work with each of our students and parents.........

If it weren't for your hard work and dedication to becoming the best each and every one of you can be, we would not be able to share our love and enjoyment of the wonderful world of Choral/Vocal Music in Bellingham and the world.  Every time we meet we further the goal of not just becoming a community of good singers, but we develop the "life skills" to become better people.  I feel very privileged to share this vision with each of you!  Welcome to my world as a music teacher in the Bellingham School District.  My current assignment is Vocal Music at Bellingham High School and Early Morning Choir at Kulshan and Whatcom Middle Schools.

  • Calendar One way to stay current with all of our Choral Activities is to check the Calendar on the left hand side of this web site.  I try to keep it as up to date as possible.  There are also two Calendars on the white board at school.  The first is for the current month and the second is for the following month.  There will also be a space on the while board for important upcoming events.  Students receive 3 calendars at the beginning of the school year and dates rarely change from that original calendar although events are sometimes added as the year goes on.  One calendar goes to the student, one goes to the maternal person in the family ...

  • Life Skills These are the lessons students learn and practice every day in and out of class.  My job description is to teach Vocal and General Music, but I think our greatest responsibility as teachers and parents is to teach life skills.  These include but are not limited to:  Being Responsible for our behavior so we treat EVERYONE (including ourselves) with respect and kindness, taking care of our own materials and our environment so we leave everything we have better than we found it, doing our best work at all times.  (This means giving the best we have to every moment whether we are feeling great, feeling tired, calm, or stressed out.)  These goals of course come from Bellingham High School's ...

  • Get Involved The more parents and students get involved, the more students learn, parents keep informed and help their kids improvement and success and the more satisfaction everyone gets from the BHS Choral Music Program.  Please make sure you have read over the first day packet and any other material that comes home.  The first day packet has forms to fill out and I know filling out forms is probably not your favorite thing to do, BUT these forms are EXTREMELY important.  Please do this and have your student turn them in the next class day.  Most communication will be done via FB pages for each class and the Parent Boosters, mass emails to those who wish to receive them about meetings ...

Finding Out More Information:

Students have found Facebook to be the best way to communicate quickly about everything so make sure you are 'friended' by a High School Vocal Music Student so you can read up on the latest for your particular class.

General Information should be found on this web site.  Please look below for contact information for Linda Short, Vocal Music Director, Bellingham High School.

Middle School students and parents should contact me using my email first and then my BHS phone extension second.  NEVER leave a message on the phones at Whatcom MS or Kulshan MS, because I NEVER have time to check my phone for messages there.

Students should
be signing up for all the different Activities available to them.  Almost all activities are open to all students so I encourage everyone to be brave and go for everything.  The more experience you get, the stronger singer you will be.

If you know of any new students coming into the BHS Choral Music Program, please have them send their email and phone numbers to Mrs. Short so we can keep our contact list current for students and parents.

Remember if you have any questions at this point, please email Vocal Music Director Linda Short at:  linda.short@bellinghamschols.org or as a second choice leave a message at:  (360) 676-6575 ex. 7186.
