My conceptual concerns are rooted in my interest in the history of ideas and the development of ideological systems. The majority of my work, in the past few years, focuses on mythologies that inform our world. I visually illustrate a wide variety of cultural myths as set forth in Joseph Campbell’s four functions of myth.  I began my first series intending to tell a humorous story about The Day I Fell in Love with a Baboon but it evolved from a humorous pun, into a critical look at the idea of Dominion found in Genesis 1:26.  This isn’t a surprising thing for me to do, because my initial intention for starting my Master of Fine Art degree was to visually illustrate a critique of society.  It was also an extension of one of my early photomontages.
