 Attendance

  • Musicians arrive 5-10 minutes before the beginning of rehearsal, help set up, are warmed up and ready to play by downbeat time, and stay for the entire rehearsal.
  • If, for any reason, musicians are unable to attend a rehearsal, must come late or leave early, they must clear this in advance with our manager; contact Julie Gardner, LincolnYouthSymphony@gmail.com, 435.723.8262.
  • Sometimes our choices reflect our level of commitment. High commitment levels are a requirement of membership in the Lincoln Youth Symphony.
  • If musicians have three absences or late arrivals, the conductor has the option of asking them to sit in the back of the section or leave the orchestra with no refund.

Rehearsal Guidelines

  • Arrive prepared: practice at home. Come mentally prepared to work hard and do your best.
  • Always bring music (do not rely on a stand partner to bring it for you), a pencil, and, if desired, a water bottle.
  • Dress conservatively.
  • Show proper respect to peers and to the conductors. Do not talk or visit during rehearsal time. When the conductor stops you, listen to instruction. Visit during the break.
  • Respect the school property & facilities. Be considerate of the custodians who care for the building.
  • Refreshments for break time will be assigned periodically throughout the year. Please do not bring messy food, and pitch in when it’s time to clean up. Announcements will be made via email.

Music Policy

  • Music packets will be checked out to each musician.
  • The musician is responsible for that music; failure to return music will result in a $25 charge, or the actual cost of the music, whichever is greater.
  • Music is due immediately following each concert before students leave for home that night.
  • New music will be checked out at the first rehearsal for the next concert.
