NOTICE OF RACE

2019 SNIPE US NATIONAL WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP

August 23-25, 2019

LINCOLN SAILING CLUB, LINCOLN, NE

ORGANIZING AUTHORITY

Lincoln Sailing Club and Lincoln Snipe Fleet 567 in cooperation with the

Snipe Class International Racing Association

1. RULES

The regatta will be governed by:

1.1 The rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).

1.2 The SCIRA Rules of Conduct for Conducting National and International Championship Regattas (ROC).

1.3 The Deed of Gift.

1.4 RRS Appendix P will apply.

1.5 In case of a conflict between the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions, the Sailing Instructions shall prevail.

2. ADVERTISING

2.1 Advertising is permitted in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20 and SCIRA rules.

2.2 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.

3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1 The regatta is open to SCIRA registered boats and Class Member female skippers and female crews who are in good standing with SCIRA for the current year, subject to any Deed of Gift restrictions.

3.2 Junior skippers and crews under SCIRA rules qualify if they have not turned 22.

3.3 No skipper or crew shall be eligible to enter any Class championship race unless:

a. they possess and present a current Class Membership Card, or

b. SCIRA-issued equivalent, or

c. shows as current member in the SCIRA Official Online Database.

4. FEES

4.1 Required fees include meals and social events held at LSC, and are as follows:

a. Senior Teams:

I. $95 on-line before August 15, 2019.

II. $120 Aug. 15 through close of registration or on-site Aug. 23, 2019.

b. Junior Teams: (as defined by SCIRA, see 3.2 above)

I. $50 if registered before August 15, 2019 ($95 after)

6. NUMBER OF RACES:

6.1 The maximum number of races to be sailed is 8.

7. MEASUREMENT

7.1 All boats are required to have a current Class decal properly displayed.

7.2 All boats must carry class required safety gear subject to on the water inspection.

8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

8.1 The sailing instructions will be available online at no later than 10:00 am, August 23, 2019 at the regatta website.

8.2 Sailing Instructions will also be available at registration.

9. VENUE

9.1 The racing area will be at Branched Oak Lake.

10. THE COURSES

10.1 The courses to be sailed are the Class approved courses for a National or International regatta, as published in the current SCIRA Official Rulebook and SCIRA web site, and as amended by the Sailing Instructions.

11. SCORING

11.1 The scoring system will be Appendix A as modified below:

a. 3 races are required to be completed to constitute a championship.

b. When fewer than 6 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

c. When 6 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

12. SUPPORT BOATS

12.1 Coach and support boats shall be marked with clear identification satisfactory to the Organizing Committee.

a. Moreover, they must register with the OA on or before August 15, 2019, no later than 3:00 pm.

b. Support boats without appropriate identification will not be allowed on the Racecourse or at LSC.

c. While at LSC, support boats MUST be docked, moored or rafted in locations as directed by the LSC Officers or Regatta Officials. Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in the removal of any unauthorized or improperly moored support boat.

d. All support boats must have a working VHF radio turned on at all times while on the water and monitoring channel 16 and the race channel identified by the Race Committee.

13. BERTHING

13.1 Boats shall be kept in their assigned places while they are in the boat park at LSC.

14. RADIO COMMUNICATION

14.1 Except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data communication or transmissions and shall not receive voice or voice or data communication that is not available to all boats.

14.2 This restriction also applies to mobile phones.

15. INSURANCE

15.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 300,000 US dollars incident or the equivalent.

15.2 Teams that charter or borrow a boat for the regatta shall take out US Charter Boat Insurance as described at https://snipeusa.com/resources/

16. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

16.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, b. Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

17. PRIZES

17.1 US Women's National Championship Regatta, sailed as the Series:

a. Prizes will be awarded commensurate to the size of the fleet.

b. The winning skipper will be awarded the U.S. Women's Championship Trophy.

c. Trophies will be awarded to the top five finishing teams.

17.2 Other Prizes

None
