I think all would agree that we had a very successfully Learn to Sail class at the club on Saturday (May 18).  Seventeen participants learned the basics of sailing, tied some knots, and went out sailing.  The weather cooperated with a wonderful afternoon of light winds and NO motorboat traffic.

Events like these are important to maintaining a healthy sailing club and they just don’t happen.  Thanks go out to many folks assisting in teaching parts of the class or providing boats to use: Dale Benham, John & Mary Buckley, Maryann Deno, Joe Heinzle, Luke Keester, Jen Lee, Dennis Miller, Andrew Ozaki, & Greg Zimmer.  We appreciate the lunch from LSC thanks to Vicki Albert and John Curry.

Additionally, I wanted to thank Dennis Miller, Robert Richardson & Larry Briggs for cleaning debris from the beach area and moving lots of sand Saturday.  Their work is greatly appreciated and makes the beach more usable and attractive.

Consider attending or helping with the other clinics this year.  It is rewarding to teach others about sailing and see the smiles and joy folks get from experiencing sailing.  We have one additional Saturday class on June 8 from 10am-3pm and two Tuesday classes that will focus on Sunfish sailing from 6-8pm on May 28 and June 18.  If you have not yet registered and would like to participate, please let me know so we can better plan for the event.
