Steve King BArch(Hons) DipBdgSc(Sydney)
Director and Architectural Science consultant

Steve is a building scientist, whose research includes work in energy efficient performance of dwellings, with special interest in solar access and the role of natural ventilation.

As a practice oriented member
and Associate Director of the Centre for Sustainable Built Environments (SOLARCH) at the University of New South Wales, he has been responsible for projects affecting the evolution of energy performance expectations for both domestic and institutional buildings in Australia. He is the author of SITE PLANNING IN AUSTRALIA: Strategies for energy efficient residential planning, published by AGPS   and of the BDP Environment Design Guides on the same topic.  He is the long standing architect member of a consortium of experts in preventive conservation, materials performance and environmental control, which consults in environmental monitoring and design review to museums and cultural institutions both in Australia and internationally.

A Registered Architect, Steve King advises architects, developers and local government on ESD and amenity issues.  He appears regularly as an expert witness in the Land and Environment Court, usually testifying on matters where 'deemed-to-satisfy' provisions do not appropriately address environmental performance requirements of planning controls.
