Limerick 1-10 (0-5) Offaly 1-16 (0-9) 

Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship 

Saturday 9th July 

2.30pm in John Fitzgerald Park, Kilmallock 

Limerick fell short against Offaly in Kilmallock on Saturday, losing out by 1-16 to 1-10 to an Offaly side that were just that bit sharper in taking their scores on the day. Limerick opened the scoring with a well taken point from Caoimhe Costelloe but that was to be the only time they lead in the match as Offaly repsonded with three points in 10 minutes to open an early lead. 

Limerick responded well and had levelled by the quarter hour mark with Nimah Ryan pointing from play and Niamh Mulcahy converting two frees. Niamh who was carrying a slight injury into the game was kept scoreless from play in the game with Offaly double marking her for much of the game. Offaly finished the half stronger and scored five points to a single point from Chloe O'Brien to go in at the break four points ahead. 

With the advantage of the breeze in the second half Limerick began to get back on the scoresheet with Niamh Ryan, Caoimhe Costelloe and Sinéad McNamara all contributing to the scoring. The turning point of the game came on the 18th minute when Limerick won a penalty after Caoimhe Costelloe was fouled in the area. This gave Niamh Mulcahy an opportunity to bring Limerick level but her shot was saved by Eleanor Clendennen in the Offaly goal. Offaly repsonded with a point from Tina Hannon to extend their lead to four. 

That became seven with five minutes to go when Tina Hannon rounded the Limerick keeper to score the games first goal. This seemed to deflate Limerick and Offaly added two points in the immediate aftermath to put an unsurmountable nine points between the sides. 

Limerick kept pressing and got a goal back when substitute Caoimhe Lyon's shot was saved and another substitute Rebecca Noonan was on hand to strike for the back of the net. But it was too late and Offaly finished deserving winners by 1-16 to 1-10. 

Limerick still have a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages, however they will not only need to beat Cork next week but also for either Wexford or Offaly to slip up in their final game and then scoring difference would come into play.

Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Premier Junior Camogie Championship 

Sunday 10th July 

2.30pm in Athleague, Co. Roscommon 

Limerick's Premier Junior team had an unsuccessful outing to Roscommon as they fell short by 1-10 to 0-5 points against a strong home side. Roscommon are the front runners in this competition and currently sit on top of the table. Limerick have however been on the road for the first three matches and with one win out of three going into their three home games qualifications for the semi-finals is very much within the grasp of this young side.

Limerick win in Dublin U14 Blitz 

After a bad weekend for Limerick teams the one highlight was the victory of our U14 B team in the Dublin Blitz as they came away with the C Shield. The U14 A team also performed well and narrowly missed out on a place in the A Cup semi-finals.
