With more than 16 years of progressive working experiences of NOAA’s satellite data, Dr. Likun Wang has broad interests of satellite remote sensing, including 1) exploring innovative use of satellite data for new applications through an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) approach (talk) , 2) exploiting new, advanced and emerging observing systems that are flexible, responsive to evolving technologies, and economically sustainable (seminar), 3) improving the quality of satellite observations for weather and climate applications through the calibration and validation efforts (Cal/Val). He currently serves the chair of World Meteorological Organization (WMO) sponsored Global Space-based Inter-Calibration System (GSICS) infrared sensor working group. He is now working as a visiting scientist affiliated with NOAA/NESDIS/STAR and employed by Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center at University of Maryland.
