Juana Medina

Artist's Bio

Juana Medina was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia. She studied at the Corcoran College of Art + Design and the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Shortly after finishing her studies, Juana joined RISD's Industrial Design Department as one of the youngest faculty members.

She has been awarded by the National Cartoonists Society, and has been the recipient of funding (through RISD) from the National Endowment for the Arts' Challenge America Fast-Track Grant. Juana has illustrated books for Random House, Alfaguara Editores, Texas University Press, and Editorial Norma, among others. Her work has made it from bookstores in Latin America, to animations in Time Square, NYC. She currently lives in the DC area, where she teaches at the Corcoran College of Art + Design in the Digital Media and Graphic Design Departments; and works on projects for clients in the U.S., Europe, and Latin America.
